Delivering for Aotearoa

Whakarongorau Aotearoa runs the Government-funded free to the public, 24x7 national telehealth services. Those services are outlined here and include Healthline, the COVID Healthline, the COVID Vaccination Healthline (operating 8am-8pm), and COVID Welfare.

More than 2,500 staff across Aotearoa support Healthline and the COVID Healthline services, operating from contact centres in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and from their homes, as well as in partner contact centres in Kaikohe, Otara (South Auckland), Heretaunga (Hawke’s Bay) and Rotorua.

To ensure we are as connected and as engaged as we can be with the people we help, nearly 40% of our Healthline services workforce identify as Māori or Pasifika and we have more than 500 Te Reo and Pacific language speakers. Our frontline staff can speak 30 languages and we have access to interpreter services for over 300 languages.

Our services are supported by clinical teams of registered nurses, mental health nurses, psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, counsellors, doctors, paramedics, poisons officers, health advisors, family and sexual harm professionals, and emergency triage nurses and by a clinical governance group. Our base Healthline team is made up of over 200 nurses and paramedics and supplemented by 50 health advisors.
